Car Parking

If you are travelling to Dawlish by car, there are free and unrestricted parking spaces outside Pilchard Cottage, however due to the proximity of the cottage to the shops and the beach, these spaces are usually very popular!

If there aren’t any spaces outside the cottage when you arrive, we would recommend temporarily parking in one of the free one-hour spaces on Park Road (less than 1 minute walk), to unload your car.

We offer our guests complimentary use of our parking permit (for one car) for the local long stay car park Barton Hill (EX7 9QF)to use free of charge for the duration of their stay.

Barton Hill Long Stay Car Park is approximately 350 yards from the cottage.

The permit also allows you to park for free at two of the Teignbridge Council car parks in Dawlish Warren called Dawlish Warren Landward (EX7 0NF) and Dawlish Warren Seaward (EX7 0NA), the permit can also be used at Sandy Lane (EX7 0AF) in Dawlish by the Lawn Tennis Club.

If you’d like to take advantage of our permit for the duration of your stay, please let us know the following information; vehicle registration number, make and colour.

On the day of your arrival we will update the Teignbridge Council Permit System on your behalf and will email you a screenshot of the confirmation, parking map and further information about using the permit.

You will not need to display anything in your car, as it is a digital permit – Parking Enforcement Officers have real time access to the parking permit system.

When using the permit please ensure your car is moved every 48 hours (this can be to another spot within the car park – this is a rule enforced by Teignbridge Council to prevent people storing cars in their car parks indefinitely). Please also make sure you comply with any restrictions and terms & conditions displayed at each car park.

Parking is at the risk of the guest – the owners of Pilchard Cottage cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to your vehicle.

There are no EV charging facilities at Pilchard Cottage, the nearest EV charging station to the cottage is located in Barton Hill Car Park, which is approximately 350 yards from the cottage.

Sainsbury’s Supermarket in Dawlish also offers EV Charging Stations.
